Our Mission, Vision, and Impact

Who We Are

The Friends of South Borough is a dedicated voluntary group led by a core committee of five elected members, proudly consisting of both parents and school staff. We share a common goal: to foster a strong, collaborative school community that directly benefits the children of South Borough.

What We Do

Our mission is to work hand-in-hand with the school to provide enriching experiences and vital opportunities for all students. Throughout the academic year, we organise and host a variety of fundraisers and community events. Every penny we raise is reinvested directly into the school to enhance the educational and social environment for our children.

Our Current Aim: The Field Play Project

Our primary focus right now is our most ambitious and exciting goal yet: raising £17,000 to fund a major play project on the school field.

This funding will be used to erect brand-new, high-quality play equipment designed to significantly enhance our school’s outdoor play offer, encouraging physical activity, imagination, and well-being for every child at South Borough.

Our Events

To reach our goals, we rely on the incredible support of our school community. Our cornerstone annual events include:

  • The Christmas Fete: A festive celebration bringing families together for winter fun.

  • The Summer Fete: Our flagship warm-weather event, packed with activities, stalls, and community spirit.

  • The Penny Challenge: a fun challenge which results in one class winning a reward afternoon, funded by FOSB.

Oher events are arranged throughout the year.

Our Impact: Past Successes

Thanks to the generosity of our community, the Friends of South Borough have a proud history of delivering tangible improvements to the school. Our recent successful funding initiatives include:

  • Computing Suite Upgrade (March 2026): A major £4,000 contribution to provide the school with state-of-the-art technology.

  • Playground Enhancements: The purchase and installation of new basketball hoops to encourage active play.

  • Classroom Support: Ongoing funding for the school's reward systems to celebrate student achievements.

  • Festive Joy: Providing the funds to purchase special class gifts for the children at Christmas.

Get Involved: We are always looking for volunteers, fresh ideas, and community support. Together, we can make South Borough the best it can possibly be for our children!

Thank you for your continued support,

Benjamin Smith
