In England, children in Year 2 may participate in optional national curriculum assessments in May. These assessments are not statutory, meaning they are not compulsory. At South Borough we will be administering the optional SATS to:

• Measure pupil achievement in reading and mathematics.
• Identify areas where students might need additional support as they transition to Year 3.
• Inform teacher assessments alongside other data.

What's Tested:

• Reading: Comprehension, fluency, and decoding skills.
• Mathematics: Number and place value, addition and subtraction, problem-solving, and measurement.

Remember: These assessments are one piece of information used to understand your child's progress.
