SEN
At South Borough Primary School, we aim to meet the needs of all pupils within our school. All staff are fully aware of SEN&D (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) within the school and receive high quality information and training. We aim to quickly identify pupils, who are making limited progress and provide targeted interventions and support to meet their needs. We aim to ensure that parents are fully aware of the SEN&D process and informed of their child’s learning at regular points
throughout the year. We are a fully inclusive school and work alongside the Local Authority, Health Professionals and community organisations to find the most appropriate and effective support for pupils within our care.
The Four Broad Areas of SEND are:
● Communication and interaction (C&I)
● Cognition and learning (C&L)
● Social, emotional and mental health difficulties (SEMH)
● Sensory and/or physical needs (S/PD)
What is the role of a SENCo (Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator?)
A SENCo is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the school's SEN policy. They will co-ordinate additional support for all pupils with SEN and liaise with their parents, teachers and other professionals who are involved with them. At South Borough we have a dedicated SENCo (Mrs Fulcher).
When to consult a SENCo
If your child is not progressing as they should, please see the document below titled – SEN Process - this will explain what steps to take and when to arrange a meeting with the SENCo. You should start by contacting your child's class teacher.
